The passing cold front that brings the rain also ushers in a period of cooler mornings for the Gulf Coast.It has been a mild and humid Saturday morning, with mostly cloudy skies. Clouds stick around through the morning with a few sprinkles possible. Then in the afternoon, we will be watching the radar for developing showers and storms.
Temperatures this afternoon will be warm, in the low to mid 80s.The main concern at the beaches this weekend will be the chance for developing inland thunderstorms. Regularly check the radar or have a way to receive lightning alerts if you are at the beach. While we’re not expecting many storms to develop, especially at the coast, they may be close enough to interrupt beach plans in some areas.
On Sunday, a passing front brings a higher rain chance and cooler temperatures. It will not be the best beach day.Another batch of more widespread rain is expected on Sunday, but thunder is looking less likely. Rain will last through parts of the morning and afternoon. Skies will likely clear in the late evening.
We expect about half an inch of rainfall, although a heavier thunderstorm could result in locally higher amounts. After the system passes, drier air will move in for the upcoming week.We’re preparing for a shot of cooler air on Monday and Tuesday! Morning temperatures will likely fall into the 40s while afternoons will be in the 70s.
