A Scoot flight scheduled to depart Malacca for Singapore experienced a nine-hour delay and eventual cancellation due to a fuel tanker issue at the Malacca airport. Passengers endured the ordeal overnight, facing lengthy waits and unclear communication from Scoot staff.
A Scoot flight from Malacca to Singapore , TR403, faced a nine-hour delay and subsequent cancellation on January 10, leaving passengers stranded and frustrated. The original schedule had the flight departing at 10:15 PM and arriving in Singapore at 11:10 PM. However, due to a delayed previous flight caused by weather conditions, the aircraft arrived at Malacca airport at around 11:00 PM. Despite the arrival, passengers were not permitted to check in for over an hour.
Passengers, including Lin, who had purchased tickets for his wife, colleague, and child to attend an event in Singapore on January 11, grew increasingly concerned. They were informed that the delay was due to weather-related issues with the plane's engines. At around 1:00 AM, Scoot staff started distributing minimal provisions like mineral water and bread to the stranded passengers but still refused to allow boarding. Passengers continued to inquire about the cause of the delay, but staff consistently cited weather as the reason. Finally, at 2:30 AM, passengers were allowed to board the aircraft. Lin, exhausted, promptly fell asleep upon finding his seat. However, his slumber was short-lived as the captain announced that the engine wouldn't start, forcing the plane to return to the hangar and disembark all passengers. Lin, along with his family and colleague, opted to drive to Johor Bahru before taking a bus to Singapore, arriving at their destination at 10:00 AM. Surprisingly, Lin received a message from Scoot at 12:40 PM, instructing him to proceed to the Scoot counter in Malacca at 1:30 PM for a bus to Singapore. A Scoot spokesperson later clarified that the incident stemmed from a problem with the fuel tanker at the Malacca airport, preventing the aircraft from refueling. The airline stated that they had provided accommodation and meals to affected passengers and arranged alternative transportation to Singapore at 2:00 PM on January 11
