Seletar Hill Restaurant , a beloved Singapore an establishment known for its traditional Chinese cuisine, is set to close its doors permanently on March 1, 2025. The news, shared on the Can Eat! SG Facebook group, came as a surprise to many, who have been frequenting the restaurant for years. Chef-owner Ng Kok Hua, diagnosed with stage-four cancer in 2021 and currently in remission, and his wife, Jamie Pang, have been considering shutting down the restaurant for the past two to three years.

The couple embarked on their culinary journey in the 1980s, working in an upscale Chinese restaurant in New York. Upon returning to Singapore, they opened Seletar Hill Restaurant in 1990, where they've diligently prepared all dishes in-house, from skinning and deboning chickens to fermenting their own sauces. The restaurant gained recognition for its signature dishes, including Camphor Tea Smoked Duck, Claypot Sea Cucumber with Duck Webs, and General Tso's Chicken. Jamie Pang confirmed the closure to AsiaOne, stating that the couple had been searching for a suitable successor since November 2023. She expressed that they feel a sense of loss, having served two generations of customers who have become like family.
