A 34-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man died in the shootings, police say.
AKRON, Ohio — A 34-year-old woman is dead after a shooting early Monday morning at a residence in the Kenmore neighborhood, police say.
It was one of two fatal shootings over the weekend in Akron. A 36-year-old man was killed Saturday afternoon in a shooting in the West Akron neighborhood, police say. The shooting Monday occurred just before 2:30 a.m. on the 2200 block of Maryland Avenue. Officers arrived at the scene and found the woman with an apparent gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center.A suspect is in custody in Saturday’s shooting, which occurred at a residence on the 200 block of Wildwood Avenue at about 3:30 p.m. Police say officers found the victim in the driveway with a gunshot wound to his chest.
Dontae Foster, 36, surrendered to police later Saturday and is being held in the Summit County Jail on a murder charge in connection with the shooting. Police say Foster and the victim were involved in an altercation before the shooting, but released no other details.Anyone with information can call detectives at 330-375-2490 or Summit County Crimestoppers at 330-434-COPS.
