The North Beach grocery store has a deli case, a butcher counter, a specialty cheese section, local beer and wine, and an outdoor window for ordering coffee.
Luke Oppenheim first started Luke's Local as a grocery and meal delivery service when he moved to the Bay Area in 2009. In 2016, he opened the first Luke’s Local market in Cole Valley, followed by a Cow Hollow market in 2020.
“He thought North Beach would be perfect for us because it’s similar to Cole Valley in that it’s a neighborhood with a lot of people who have been here a long time,” Luke’s Local Chief Operating Officer Kayleigh Kahn told Hoodline. “And it’s very community-oriented. Plus, this building is gorgeous with all the big windows.”
Luke's Local is known for offering products from local food-makers and farmers. At the new store, customers can buy fresh bread from quarantine sourdough project-turned-San Francisco bakery
