A team of researchers have scaled Reuleaux triangle, an equilateral triangle with curved arcs and a constant width, into the third dimension and beyond.
Researchers have discovered a unique geometric shape that maintains a constant width regardless of the dimension it’s measured in. Despite not being round, the shape rolls like a wheel.
“The most amazing thing is that volume of each shape is easily computable,” said study co-author Andriy Bondarenko, a“So we can compare n-volume of the shape with the n-volume of unit ball and see mathematically rigorously that volumes of our shapes are exponentially smaller,” addedLast year, the 13-sided shape was called “the hat” and the vampire Einstein is called “the Spectre.” But the new shape is yet to get its name.
