TOTAL web visits on Shopee, the e-commerce platform owned by Sea Ltd, surged 82 per cent from Q1 to Q2 of this year. Read more at The Business Times.

E-commerce platforms experienced an average 23 per cent growth in total web visits in the first half of 2020. The average basket size expanded by 51 per cent year on year, and users in Singapore spent an average of S$113 during the period.

iPrice noted that the surge in web visits on Shopee could have been due to constant marketing initiatives and promotions. The Alibaba-owned Lazada may have dropped to second place in Q2, but it retained a strong presence in Singapore and had 23 per cent of the web market share in Singapore, said the report.

Qoo10 emerged third, with monthly web visits rising 12 per cent to 7.4 million. Amazon.sg was the fourth most visited e-commerce platform in the first half of 2020. The company's traffic jumped 29 per cent to 3.7 million. "With its strengthening presence in the market since Q4 2019, Amazon.sg seems to be penetrating Singapore successfully," said the report. For daily updates on weekdays and specially selected content for the weekend.
