Singapore Police Raid Online Prostitution Syndicate, Arrest 19 Women and 1 Man

Singaporean authorities successfully dismantled an online prostitution syndicate, leading to the arrest of 19 women and one man in coordinated raids across Orchard and MacPherson.

Singapore an authorities conducted raids in the Orchard and MacPherson districts between August 13th and 14th, leading to the arrest of 19 women and one man suspected of involvement in an online prostitution syndicate. The raids, carried out by officers from the Criminal Investigation Department 's (CID) Specialised Crime Branch, focused on the vicinity of Kramat Road and MacPherson Road.

This branch specializes in tackling vice-related crimes, illegal gambling, online child sexual exploitation, and trafficking in persons. During the operation, police seized cash exceeding $2,000, three mobile phones, and other items linked to vice activities. The 35-year-old man was apprehended for allegedly facilitating the online vice syndicate's operations, potentially violating the Women's Charter 1961. Investigations are currently ongoing against the 18 women involved. If convicted of living wholly or partially on the earnings derived from the prostitution of another person, the man faces a maximum jail sentence of seven years and a potential fine of up to S$100,000. Additionally, if found guilty of assisting, keeping, or managing a place of assignation, he could be imprisoned for up to five years and fined up to S$100,000. This operation follows a previous raid conducted on July 30th in the same districts, resulting in the arrest of eight men and 20 women aged between 21 and 61. Authorities continuously strive to combat vice activities and protect the public from exploitation
