Singapore's Land Transport Authority (LTA) will trial self-driving public bus services in Marina Bay and one-north starting in mid-2026. The trial will begin with six autonomous buses operating on Services 400 and 191, with the possibility of expanding to two more services based on performance. These buses will have safety operators onboard initially and will be monitored in real-time by LTA.

These self-driving buses must meet operating requirements, including safe pick-up and drop-up at all stops. They will be monitored in real-time by LTA to assess their performance and compliance with regulations. "This phased approach allows for a thorough assessment of the feasibility and reliability of AV technology while ensuring public safety," said LTA.The selected party will work with SBS Transit, which currently operates Services 400 and 191, to develop operational concepts and plans.
LTA said the proposals must include bus models, fleet management and remote operation systems, as well as electric charging infrastructure.
