Sven Teo Jin Kiat, 35, was sentenced to three months in jail for relentlessly pursuing his former employee for over a year, appearing at her home and workplace, sending unwanted gifts and emails, and following her on her commute.
A Singapore an man, Sven Teo Jin Kiat, was sentenced to three months in jail for stalking his former employee. Teo, 35, relentlessly pursued the 29-year-old victim for at least a year, appearing at her home and workplace, sending unwanted gifts and emails, and following her on her commute. The victim had previously worked at Teo's salon, where he confessed his feelings for her, which she rejected as he was married.
After leaving Teo's employment, the victim began working at a different salon, unaware of how Teo learned her new location. He would linger for an hour at the void deck of her home, sometimes parking his car nearby. He followed her on her daily commute, appearing behind the bus she took or alongside her on the MRT. Teo sent her unwanted gifts, including a Christian Dior bag and food with notes expressing his love and frustration. He also bombarded her with 31 emails from seven different addresses, professing his love, asking her to meet, and berating her for not responding. The victim, deeply affected by Teo's relentless pursuit, confided in her colleagues and neighbors, asking them to keep an eye out for him. She filed seven police reports against Teo between June 2023 and December 2024, and confronted him on several occasions, despite his attempts to flee. Teo was investigated by the police in January 2024 and warned to refrain from criminal conduct, but he continued to harass her. Even after being charged with stalking and released on bail, Teo reoffended by continuing to stalk the victim on at least four occasions. The prosecutor described Teo as 'like an unwanted surveillance camera' to the victim, highlighting the pervasive fear he instilled in her.
