Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has announced the cut-off age for the youngest child of a single parent as the single parenting payment will be raised from 8 to 14 years old.
“What that will do is to make sure that women, in particular, but also fathers in situations of raising children by themselves, can have that sense of security,” Mr Albanese said during a media conference on Monday.
“It will cost to the budget some $1.9 billion through to 2026-2027, but what the research has shown is that this is an investment – It’s an investment in these families.”
