Makom Solel Lakeside in Highland Park coordinated the effort last year, not knowing it would be needed now more than everSix Chicago-area synagogues teamed up this past year, raising more than $100,000 to purchase an ambulance for Magen David Odom, the emergency medical service agency in Israel and an American Red Cross partner.
The ambulance was made in Indiana and will be shipped 6,200 miles to Israel by the end of October. It will be a tool for EMTs to help civilians.
