He lost its replacement on Sunday.
So he opted to have his leg amputated below the knee, and then he resumed skydiving as soon as he could. Callaway, jumping with three friends, pushed away from them in midair to try to track the trajectory of his prosthesis, but he lost track.For four hours afterward on one foot and crutches, he peered through vineyards that flank the Russian River in Cloverdale, Calif., the heart of the state’s wine country. No luck.His leg had blown a half mile south of the airport into a lumber mill, where a worker found it and — after checking the area — turned it over to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office.
