SM Entertainment will be debuting their first girl group since Aespa in 2020 with Hearts2Hearts on February 24, 2025. They are also preparing to launch a new boy band in the second half of the year.
SM Entertainment, the renowned South Korean agency, is making waves in the K-pop world with exciting announcements regarding new group debuts. Following the successful launch of the boy band Riize in September 2023, the agency revealed plans to unveil two new groups in 2025 during the SMTown Live 2025 concert in Seoul on January 12th.
The first of these new groups, Hearts2Hearts, will be making their debut on February 24th, marking SM Entertainment's first foray into the girl group market since Aespa's debut in 2020. Hearts2Hearts, an eight-member ensemble consisting of Carmen, Jiwoo, Haram, Dahyun, Jooeun, Yuna, Leean, and Nayeon, aims to captivate global audiences with their unique musical style, blending mysterious and captivating soundscapes with heartfelt messages and a range of emotions. Adding to the excitement, industry sources suggest that SM Entertainment is also preparing to launch a new boy band in the latter half of 2025. Fans have speculated that former Hybe trainee JJ, who showcased his talents as part of the SMTR25 group at the SMTown Live 2025 concert, could be a member of this upcoming boy band. JJ, a 19-year-old Japanese-American, initially gained recognition through Hybe's YouTube series 'Trainee A' in 2021 and reportedly joined SM Entertainment after not being selected for a debut under Hybe. While SM Entertainment has not confirmed any details about the new boy band, co-CEO Tak Young-jun hinted at the company's plan to introduce two new K-pop groups annually in February 2023.
