Double payments will also occur in three other months in 2023. These months will be June, September, and December this year because the first of the month falls on a weekend or federal holiday in July, October, and January of 2024.The SSA normally only gives out one check each month. But in the months that the first occurs on a weekend or holiday, recipients receive two checks the month prior.
The Social Security Administration issued its first payment in 1974. However, the administration changes the check amount every year to keep up with the cost of living and inflation.
