In 2008, on my 20th birthday, I made a decision that would change my life forever: to lose weight. It was something I had attempted many times before—specifically, by eating low-cal cereal bars twice a day for a few weeks, only to eventually stop. At 185 pounds and a size 18 in pants, it was like a switch flipped in my head. Once I decided to lose weight then, there was no turning back.
