South Bay Community Land Trust bought a fourplex in downtown San Jose to ensure the property remains affordable for generations.
It was almost a year after Tafhari Franklin moved into the red and teal house on Reed Street in downtown San Jose that he finally unpacked his belongings.
“If you look at this street right here, there’s no kids. No kids laughing, like the neighborhood we grew up in,” said Franklin, 47, who was raised in Los Angeles and Sonoma County.
