As the weather got worse, the South Pasadena defense got better.

As the rain began to get stronger, so did the South Pasadena High football team. The staunch Tigers defense had a great first half and an even better second half as they shut out previously unbeaten Heritage Christian, 12-0, in nonleague play on Friday night.“I’m just trying to process this game,” said South Pasadena coach Jeff Chi. “I have to give a lot of credit to Heritage Christian. Those guys on film looked very small in size but they played a heck of a game. It’s a very disciplined team.

The defense set up the offense’s only touchdown. Bolte hit Nichols Boldt with a pass on the left sideline early in the fourth quarter with the Tigers leading 5-0. Boldt was hit by Harrison Farley who knocked the ball loose. Ivan Becerra then recovered for South Pasadena at the Heritage Christian 46. Both teams had missed opportunities in the first half as the Tigers went into the locker room with a 5-0 lead.

South Pasadena had a chance to put the ball into the end zone early in the second quarter. South Pasadena marched to the Warrior 4-yard-line where it had a first-and-goal. However, the Heritage Christian defense toughened up and stopped three straight running plays.
