Director, writer and executive producer Hwang Dong-hyuk has shared his thoughts on a second season as well as a few details about what will happen to the characters.
Actor Lee Jung-jae returns for a second season as Squid Game 's main protagonist, Seong Gi-hun. Netflix has announced that the Korean thriller series Squid Game will return on Dec 26 for a highly anticipated second season, and that a third and final season is also in the works.
In a letter to fans, Huang, who is also Squid Game’s executive producer and writer, penned his thoughts about an impending new season. So, what will happen in Season 2? Set three years after Seong Gi-hun, also known as Player 456, emerged victorious, he’s still on a quest to hunt down the people behind the game. Funding his search with his earnings, Gi-hun searches for the man in a suit playing ddakji in the subway. But, he soon learns that in order to end the game, he will have to re-enter it.
Sharing more details about the plot, Hwang wrote: “Seong Gi-hun, who vowed revenge at the end of Season 1, returns and joins the game again. Will he succeed in getting his revenge? Front Man doesn't seem to be an easy opponent this time either. The fierce clash between their two worlds will continue into the series finale with Season 3, which will be brought to you next year.”
