A new fan-made mod for Stardew Valley is attempting to convert the iconic 2D farming simulator into a 3D world, complete with first-person view and optional VR capabilities.
Stardew Valley, the beloved farming simulation game, is renowned for its charming 2D pixel art aesthetic, a feature many fans hold dear. However, a community modder known as spacechase0 is developing a free modification that transforms the game into a fully 3D environment, complete with optional first-person perspective and virtual reality support.
While the mod is still in early development and not yet downloadable, a demonstration video showcases the player navigating their farmhouse, interacting with family, harvesting crops, and performing daily tasks from a first-person view. Currently, only the terrain exists in 3D, with trees, animals, and objects represented as flat billboarded sprites, which can be visually tiring. The modder acknowledges these limitations and emphasizes that the video represents a proof of concept, with plans to eventually赋予 every element unique 3D models.
The project, which has been worked on intermittently since mid-2025, was built without AI assistance. The concept has generated significant excitement among fans, many of whom have long envisioned Stardew Valley in three dimensions, and the mod's success could potentially influence the original developer to consider official support
