State beaches reopen for swimming, in time for Labor Day weekend

The beaches will also be fully staffed with lifeguards throughout the holiday weekend.

"At certain locations, we saw 10-foot wave heights, we had severe rip currents and the undercurrent was dangerous, so we prohibited swimming,"The high tides created large pools of water on Jones Beach.
