Edgar Flores Santos' name now joins those of other U.S. embassy and consulate personnel who have lost their lives in the line of duty on a plaque in Washington, D.C.
The U.S. State Department paid tribute Thursday to a U.S. consulate employee who was killed in Tijuana in 2020.
His name now joins those of other U.S. embassy and consulate personnel who have lost their lives in the line of duty on a plaque at the State Department headquarters in Washington, DC.The plaque was unveiled in November 2010 to honor members of the diplomatic service. A ceremony on Thursday included seven other workers, including Flores.
Flores, a Mexican citizen, worked for the agriculture agency at the U.S. Consulate General in Tijuana on pest control and disease eradication programs. At the time of the killing, the Baja California Attorney General’s Office said it was believed Flores was mistaken for a police officer.
