There was a time when few around the franchise figured he’d stay past the 2020 Olympics.
If Wednesday was the end, it would be just like Popovich to leave this way, wouldn’t it? To have his last locker-room session include reminders about minutiae and fundamentals? To have his last game feature a team falling way behind and then struggling to fight its way back?The struggle is what Popovich always enjoyed the most anyhow.
