, “Reengineering the Corporation,” people don’t mind change when it impacts others. But change that impacts you personally is another story. If you want to advance an idea that presents change, remember these three things:the 20-60-20 rule applies. In a company, 20% of people are ready to embrace change, 60% of people are on the fence, and the remaining 20% of people will never accept the change.
Hammer says resistance is a natural component of change. You have to expect it and not let it derail your efforts. You also can use the 20% who accept change to sway some of the 60% of skeptics. Successful people know that opposition is a natural part of the process and that youDespite the 20-60-20 concept, knowing that some people will not like your proposal can make you second-guess yourself.
