Members of the Police and Fire Honor Guard of the city of Sugar Land perform the presentation of flags before the unveiling of a new memorial monument that honors Gold Star military families in Sugar Land Memorial Park on Wednesday.The date chosen for Wednesday’s dedication ceremony for a Sugar Land monument to honor Gold Star families was no accident.
“The reason why I’m here is because I need to speak his name,” Hernandez said. “Thank you for what you do to hold us and hold our hearts together.” The monument was made possible by the Woody Williams Foundation, the Texas Gold Star Families Memorial Monument Committee and donations from the community.
