KUALA KANGSAR: Serious mitigations are required to sustain the environment, says Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah.
He said the environment is currently facing a critical situation with uncontrollable development, large open burning, and rampant logging.
“Delaying time to solve environmental issues ... would only lead to endangering our livelihood, health, and nature. “At least 50% of the greenhouse effect is caused by carbon monoxide. By planting more trees, photosynthesis will produce more oxygen in the atmosphere. “Therefore, it is crucial to have a large scale tree-planting programme as a proactive step to address climate change, ” he said after officiating the state level National Landscape Day at Laman Budaya here on Tuesday .“This is the start, and let it not be the ending. Everyone needs to play their role and be committed.
“Both government and private sector, schools, mosques, non-governmental organisations, youths and students must be active in making Kuala Kangsar more green, ” he said, adding his hope is to have at least 10,000 trees planted in Kuala Kangsar by January next year.
