TAIPEI : A cautious approach and effective monetary and foreign exchange policy has helped Taiwan avoid the need to follow the U.S. and Europe in adopting large-scale quantitative easing measures, Taiwan's central bank said on Tuesday.

At its quarterly board meeting in March, Taiwan's central bank raised its policy rate by 12.5 basis points to 1.875 per cent. The central bank"has not needed to adopt large-scale quantitative easing policies like in Europe and the United States and the bank's assets have not expanded significantly", it added.
