Taiwan’s president plans to visit three Pacific island nations to reinforce diplomatic ties, as Taiwan faces growing pressure from China and uncertainty in US policy under President-elect Trump.
Taiwan ’s president, Mr Lai Ching-te, is set to embark on a diplomatic mission on Nov 30 to strengthen ties with three Pacific island nations: Marshall Islands, Tuvalu, and Palau. These islands represent a quarter of Taiwan ’s remaining diplomatic allies. The trip is part of Taiwan 's strategy to counter Chinese efforts to isolate it on the international stage.
