Mayor Datuk Rozali Mohamud said the installation of solar panels at MBSP’s sports complex in Jalan Betek was part of the Supply Agreement for Renewable Energy project with Tenaga Nasional Bhd and Gsparx Sdn Bhd.“Our aim is to be a zero-carbon city in 2050.

The other two buildings to be installed with solar panels are MBSP’s headquarters and the MBSP sports complex in Bertam, Kepala Batas. “We can sell the excess solar energy from the solar photovoltaic installation to TNB and get energy credit on a ‘one-on-one’ offset basis to further reduce electricity bills via the Net Energy Metering scheme,” he said during the launch at the stadium in Jalan Betek, Bukit Mertajam, on Thursday.
