Stores showing teachers some appreciation this summer: Target, Walmart, Michaels, Office Depot, OfficeMax
Published 12:46 AM EDT Jul 13, 2019On the same day Target's weeklong 15% teacher discount begins, 1,000 Walmart stores across the nation will hold teacher event events with free cake and swag bags.
Then on Sunday, a few more retailers are increasing their regular teacher discounts for a limited time: Michaels, Office Depot and OfficeMax. Other stores have ongoing programs as well as new programs this year and will have events before the new school year begins. According to the National Center of Education Statistics, 94% of teachers report spending their own money on supplies. On average, a teacher will spend $479 a year, but 7% spent more than $1,000.Where does your state rank?The following are limited-time teacher discounts or ongoing programs available at participating stores. Events may not be held in all stores so check with your closest location before heading out.
