More than $20,000 worth of equipment—including 8 wheelchairs—was stolen from the nonprofit organization.
The equipment that was stolen includes a blue blade running chair, a black blade running chair, a large red running chair, and several folding race chairs, which, according to the group leaders, resemble large jogging strollers. These chairs are designed for members of the team who have physical and mental disabilities. The group must also repair its trailer and generator.
The organization not only lends the running chairs to teammates at no cost, it pays for race fees for its members.
