A total of 62 people – 29 men and 33 women – aged between 18 and 73 years old are being investigated for various offences, including illegal gambling and working at massage parlours. The gambling den was in a room adjacent to a living room, where some of the suspects were being questioned.More than 30 bottles of alcohol, including at least 15 bottles of Moutai, a Chinese liquor that costs about $500 to $600 a bottle, were displayed on a shelf. Cans of beer and packets of cigarettes were strewn around the room.
Those convicted of gaming in a common gaming house can be fined up to $5,000 or jailed for up to six months, or both.Earlier that night, the police raided a four-room HDB flat in Toa Payoh Lorong 8, which was allegedly hosting mahjong games that had been advertised on social media.
