Houston Texans sued for enabling Deshaun Watson in his sexual harassment of massage therapists

Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson has settled 20 of 24 civil cases for sexual assault and harassment of massage therapists but now the Texans have been sued for enabling his behavior.

Watson, who has repeatedly denied the allegations, once faced 24 civil lawsuits filed by women who alleged he sexually assaulted and harassed them during massage therapy sessions. NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said last week the settlements will have no impact on their disciplinary process, and he declined to comment on the lawsuit levied against the Texans.

Within the same text message, which was included as a screenshot exhibit in the lawsuit, Weisheit said she wanted to know if it was Watson “so can report to police, but from what I understand they won’t do much.” Weisheit then advised her to “just not take him anymore” as a client, “block his number and such,” or “pass him off” as a client so “she doesn’t have to deal with it.”

Baker, whom Buzbee deposed June 8, said Weisheit told her she continued to refer massage therapists to Watson after hearing about Solis’ alleged experience. When Baker pressed her for a reason, Weisheit said, “Well, I never had that experience so I — yes, I did,” according to Baker. Thereafter, Watson allegedly sexually assaulted and harassed 22 more women in 33 alleged incidents, according to the timelines presented in the lawsuits.

Genuine Touch therapists were available at team facilities sometimes every day during the season, according to the lawsuit, and they were aware Watson “refused to be massaged at the stadium” and would instead attempt to have therapists “come to his house.”
