COLLEGE STATION — Texas A&M senior safety Demani Richardson has announced he’s taking advantage of the extra year of eligibility from the COVID-19 season of 2020. Richardson, one of the defense’s top leaders the past couple of seasons, posted on social media that he intends to “finish out school and get my degree at that best university! I can’t wait to prove the doubters wrong man.”
A&M under coach Jimbo Fisher has plenty of doubters of course after finishing 5-7 in 2022 and losing six straight games for the first time in 50 years. Richardson, who was a senior in 2022, has played in 44 games the past four seasons and has 245 tackles and four interceptions, one in each season.and two more who are bypassing their senior season for the NFL draft, so Richardson’s return is welcomed at A&M. Former North Carolina cornerback Tony Grimes and former Florida State cornerback Sam McCall also have announced their intentions to transfer to A&M.
