Two Austinites leave polling location after voting in Tuesday's election. Texas voters approved 13 of the 14 constitutional amendments on the ballot for this election. "They tend to be a little less partisan. There’s less money on the part of candidates and campaigns to make a case," Shaw said. "And so usually only very attentive registrants end up voting in those elections.” "Do you look at the glass as half full or do you look at the glass as half empty?" Shaw said. "The turnout rates are increasing, but they’re still abysmally low if your standard is the sort of entirety of Travis County or even the entirety of the registered voter population.”
