Greg Abbott issued eight executive orders Thursday in response to a pair of recent mass shootings, while resisting legislative Democrats’ calls for a special session to consider new gun legislation.
The order by Mr. Abbott, a Republican, calls for the Texas Department of Public Safety to work with state and local law enforcement agencies to better assess threats and share information more effectively.
