The primary exception to this requirement are those traveling with Thai passports.The introduction of this online platform is anticipated to enhance the tracking of tourists throughout their visit, as emphasized by Tourism Ministry chief Natthriya Thaweevong. This move aims to bolster confidence in Thailand's security standards, particularly in light of recent concerns stemming from a series of high-profile kidnappings, which have notably impacted the perceptions of Chinese tourists.Thailand has been actively addressing these safety concerns, including a recent initiative by Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra to reassure Chinese tourists through an AI-generated video in Mandarin, highlighting the kingdom's commitment to safety. The paper version of the TM6 form was already suspended for foreign travelers arriving by air since July 2022, a temporary measure implemented to streamline tourism and alleviate congestion at checkpoints. This digital transition, scheduled for implementation when the suspension period concludes on April 30, 2025, is expected to further optimize the tourism experience. Additionally, there is speculation that the anticipated 300 baht (S$12) tourism fee might be postponed in light of the upcoming online TM6 system. Thailand remains committed to its ambitious goal of attracting 40 million foreign visitors in 2025, building upon the success of 2024, which saw over 35.5 million arrivals and generated 1.6 trillion baht in tourism revenue.
