Well, no. Because for the introvert with extrovert qualities the onslaught of outdoor barbecues, after work drinks and evening gatherings all pose a social dilemma that can often mar the festivities.
I am able to be the life and soul of the party, and enjoy it, but subsequently I'll feel drained for several days after., know how to deliver the punchline effectively and encourage others to join the tale-telling circle, but I'll feel sick about the thought of actually going for several hours beforehand.
This then exacerbates my social anxiety: 'do they think I'm rude?', 'do they think I'm weird now?' – it's all a perpetual cycle of angst.
