NYFW has helped open a window into the new Miley
once a Tennessee-dipped Disney star, then a water nymph covered in technicolor barnacles, then an alt-hippie Malibu Barbie, has transformed again. She’s a pop star; transformation is very much in her wheelhouse. And this past week of New York Fashion Week has helped open a window into the new Miley.
Biannually models descend on the city, and everywhere you look—not just in SoHo for once!—there are clusters of clear-skinned gazelles dressed a little too sleekly for a Tuesday night. Cyrus has historically been among them.
And then—guess what—she did it again, baring her belly button under otherwise slouchy black pieces on Tuesday.commented on the photo, posted after the fact on Thursday, and honestly, I couldn’t agree more. She looks like she’s seen some stuff but is in a really good place now, thank you for asking, another Manhattan, please., beloved hairstylist and entrepreneur.
The real pièce de résistance of the post-divorce-announcement guide to dressing, though, transpired on Tuesday, back when she was doing the crop top with big jacket. Cyrus already looked sophisticated and grown and not melancholy exactly, but certainly serious.
