Licht was out at CNNThe Trump town hall wasn’t Licht’s only controversial decision, but the aftermath is sure to serve as a cautionary tale to others as they plan their coverage heading toward November 2024.
If they think Trump or anyone else is lying or rabble-rousing, that doesn’t mean they should not cover an event or tell people what happened there. It simply means they should do their jobs better, providing context and fact-checking. Then let voters do the rest. the sensible conservative vote, allowing Trump to win state after state with a 30% to 40% plurality of his devoted followers until the nomination was virtually assured. His total percentage of all primary votes was a shade under 45%.
CNN should not be criticized for giving America a 70-minute dose of Donald Trump. The more he talks, the crazier he reveals himself, and the people who will vote in 2024 need to see that.
