A Mrs Hinch fan has shared her 'amazing' limescale removal hack that uses a 1p coin to banish the unsightly build up
Limescale, that unwelcome guest around taps, shower doors, and in our kettles and coffee machines, has met its match, thanks to tips from a Facebook group. Generally harmless yet stubborn limescale can cause damage if ignored, particularly when it encrusts taps, where harsh chemicals are a no-go for cleaning.
Enter Bev Franklin, who posted her gratitude on 'Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips' for a solution that saved her from buying new bathroom taps. "Love this group. convinced I needed new bathroom taps having tried everything to remove limescale," she wrote. She added: "I took the advice of you lovely ladies, 30 seconds later and having used a 1p coin, my taps are like new...well pleased."She's not alone - fellow group member Kim McQuinn recommended a "two pence coin tap it off. It's amazing." While Karen Poole provided a similar tip, writing: "Just rub a wet 2p coin over the limescale and it just falls off," reports the Express.
Rebecca Jackson went into detail on the procedure: "Get a wet 1p or 2p coin and rub in a circular motion and the limescale just falls off." This unconventional tactic exploits a reaction between the copper in the coins and the calcium in limescale, causing the latter to disintegrate. Other techniques for eliminating limescale from taps encompass the use of white vinegar, Viakal, and lemon juice.
