After years of waiting for an onboard entertainment solution, Rivian is turning its flagship EVs into rolling Chromecasts. Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+ and everything else is now available.
The Rivian R1S and R1T were unveiled half a decade ago as a pair of upscale, go-anywhere adventure electric vehicles. And while the performance promise was fulfilled once the two made-in-America EVs came to market in 2021 and 2022 respectively, Rivian’s flagships lacked native video in-car entertainment.
In other words, the two flagships will become rolling Chromecasts–those small dongles that you can attach to a regular, non-smart TV to transform into an internet-connected device in a matter of minutes.
