It’s a rite of passage for successful reality competition shows: As the years go on, producers inject new “twists” to shake things up.Two seasons ago, “The Voice” introduced a new gimmick called— during the blind auditions, the celebrity coaches have the opportunity to stop a fellow coach from adding a singer to his or her team. The block button can only be used once per coach, because otherwise that would be chaos.
Sorry, Gyth! Shelton turned his chair around in the first 30 seconds of the song, and gleefully hit the block button on Legend in the process. Legend, naturally, was not aware of this until he made the choice to turn around and try to convince Rigdon to join his team. Shelton cracked up as Legend came to the realization that he wouldn’t be able to compete.“Man, on the first hour of his first day!” Levine observed.“I can assure you it was Blake Shelton.” Levine told him.
“We could have made beautiful music together. But I have a feeling that Kelly is the one that blocked me,” Legend told Myers.
