.SamDelgadoTX spoke to PearseAnderson, the creator behind a tabletop roleplaying game raising money for Starbucks Workers United. 👇

; within that time, you must write up a description of a planet using a few default requirements such as name, color, type of planet, and any additional mandates demanded by your celestial managers. In order to unionize, the player will roll a six-sided die and tally up their result at the beginning of each round. Once that tally reaches 21, the player has successfully unionized and wins the game.

Of course, I had to play it with Pearse. “Cosmic Latte” is fun, intense, illuminating – similar to the feelings you might have when organizing your own union. It requires you to get creative when writing up complex descriptions of planets in such a short amount of time, making it exciting for anyone interested in world-building. If you’re feeling lost on how to improve your workplace, “Cosmic Latte” shows that the way to win is to unionize.

This concept of actionability and empathy-building is especially true for tabletop games that lack combat systems. “Dungeons and Dragons” has been great to tell many stories, but killing goblins and dungeon-crawling isn't as effective for civil disobedience, for legal recognition of the union, for mutual aid – a lot of these concepts deserve more games about them.
