Heavy rain and high winds have arrived in Western Washington, leaving several areas to deal with power outages, flooding, and slick roads. Follow live updates on conditions throughout the evening below.
Seattle City Light is reporting 2,915 customers without power. Puget Sound Energy has 31,822 customers without power in areas scattered across the Puget Sound region. Snohomish PUD is reporting 20,604 customers without power, mainly north of Everett, and Tacoma Public Utilities is reporting 2,641 customers without power.1,225 customers are without power in Seattle, according to Seattle City Light. Puget Sound Energy is reporting 123 total outages with 21,122 customers in the dark.
Carnation City Manager Ana Cortez said the city prepared for potential flooding by ensuring its stormwater systems were ready. The city is also asking residents to clear drains and gutters of debris, according to Cortez.High winds in the North Sound could cause problems in places like Everett and Mukilteo. Utility companies are warning people to be prepared for possible power outages as the storm continues to roll through Western Washington.
While many people hoped to see waves crashing over the parking lot, Michael Snyder, who runs Pacific Northwest Weather Watch, said that’s not likely to happen in Mukilteo on Friday. This surge of wind could impact parts of western Snohomish and Skagit counties too very late Friday night and early Saturday morning.
