In 1990, Jon already feels like time is running out. He’s 30 and hasn’t written his masterpiece yet. He’s waiting tables and neglecting his girlfriend, Susan .
His friend Michael tries to help Jon with paying corporate gigs, but the battle between art and commerce drives a wedge between them too. Jon writes what he knows, songs about struggling to create and wondering what he’ll make of his life. He ultimately devotes everything to a workshop for Broadway’s power players. It may not be the successtick, tick… Boom!
