Alabama native Tim Cook has led the world's largest company since 2011. He's also stayed close to his roots, donating to many Alabama causes and leading on civil rights and LGBTQ+ issues with the 'moral sense' he learned in Robertsdale. 22Alabamians
for the purchase of 28 new instruments for the school’s band. This gesture is just the latest for Cook, who remains close to his Alabama roots even as Apple soars to new heights: earlier this year, Apple was the first company to reach $3 trillion in market value.
And he’s has stayed involved with Auburn and his other alma mater, Duke University, from which he received an MBA in 1988. Last year, he spoke with the Auburn University football team ahead of that year’s Iron Bowl, and he serves on the board of trustees for Duke. Cook urges his employees to donate to causes in their community and created a company program to match the donations. He earns close to $100 million a year in compensation from Apple, though he has pledged to donate most of his wealth to charity.
