After temporarily closing its doors due to staffing issues, Toast Hut has reopened at a new location in Bukit Merah, Singapore. While the iconic kaya toast is temporarily unavailable, the revamped menu features other popular Singaporean dishes like 'cai fan' and fried noodles.

Toast Hut , a beloved Singaporean breakfast spot, has resurfaced at a new location after a months-long closure. The iconic stall, known for its delectable kaya toast , shut down its 17-year-old home at Old Airport Road Food Centre due to manpower challenges. Owner Melvin Soh, however, refused to let the legacy fade and has found a new space for Toast Hut within Connection One Tower 1 at 168 Jalan Bukit Merah. While the stall has reopened, a notable change awaits patrons.

Kaya toast, a staple on the original menu, is temporarily off the menu.Soh explained in an Instagram post that he is focusing on other Singaporean favorites, specifically 'cai fan', or economic rice, alongside dishes like fried bee hoon, fried noodles, and kway teow, accompanied by a variety of side dishes. In an interview with AsiaOne, Soh revealed his decision to relocate to Bukit Merah stemmed from his previous experience operating a cafe called Sandffee in the area, which unfortunately closed during the pandemic. He acknowledged that the initial closure of Toast Hut was driven by staffing issues, as the stall required at least four workers to operate effectively. Soh previously shared that finding suitable employees proved challenging, as potential hires demanded high salaries but were reluctant to work long hours. He hinted at his plans to transition to a menu featuring dishes that required less manpower and expertise. While kaya toast is temporarily absent, Soh assures customers that it will eventually return. This move signifies a strategic shift for Toast Hut, embracing a new format while maintaining its commitment to serving up familiar, beloved Singaporean flavors
