A Guardian is headed to the World Series! Triston McKenzie is heading to the World Series this week and will serve as a social media correspondent for Major League Baseball during games 2 and 3 of the Fall Classic.
McKenzie follows in the footsteps of Marlins second baseman Jazz Chisholm, who served as a social media correspondent for MLB during the 2021 World Series.
McKenzie, 25, enjoyed a breakout year for the Guardians, finishing among the top 10 in the American League in every major pitching category with a 2.96 ERA and 0.95 WHIP with 190 strikeouts and 44 walks in 191.1 innings. He was the only player this season to have multiple games with no walks and 13 strikeouts, and tied for the second-most strikeouts in a single game .
In September, McKenzie was named Cleveland’s 2022 Roberto Clemente Award nominee for his work with the True2U mentorship program.
