Singapore police arrested two Chinese nationals for housebreakings and theft at landed estates in Bukit Timah and Buona Vista. Valuable items were recovered, and investigations are ongoing.

Two Chinese nationals were arrested for housebreaking and theft at landed estates in Bukit Timah and Buona Vista. The two men, aged 38 and 52, are suspected of breaking into a house along Greenleaf View in Bukit Timah on Monday night and another unit along Zehnder Road in Buona Vista on Wednesday morning. Police recovered two watches worth about $8,800, a branded pouch worth about $5,000, an assortment of jewellery, and about $3,750 in cash from them.

It was established that some of the recovered valuables were related to the second case. Both units broken into did not have burglar alarm systems, although the house along Greenleaf View was fitted with security cameras that aided police investigations. The suspects are believed to have gained access into the houses by climbing through unlocked windows. At a media briefing on Thursday, the police said that there are no current indications that others are involved in the two cases. However, investigations are ongoing and they have not ruled out the possibility that the two suspects are linked to a housebreaking syndicate active in Singapore in mid-2024
